Any type of advantage to get fish swim closer to you is the difference between shooting a fish or watching it swim by. All my guns have these flashers rigged on them and just by shaking the gun helps bring fish a little closer. If you watch some of my other spearfishing videos closely you can tell.
I get asked a lot if it tangles in your shooting line or reel line and the answer is no. I've used these on all my guns for as long as I can remember and have had no such issues. The flasher has a little weight to it so it naturally hangs down. When you wrap your shooting ling its nicely pressed against your speargun which allows the flasher to hand nicely below your gun.
