Monofilament On Your Speargun

Posted by Venture Wetsuits on

As you get better in spearfishing you'll move up from a three prong pole spear to a speargun. Proper maintenance on your speargun will result in keeping your gun shooting strong and accurate. One thing to always maintain is your monofilament line or shooting line on your gun. Having new mono on your gun allows your gun to shoot more smoothly with less friction or chances of getting caught on your trigger release or reel line anchor guide. Through many dives your mono will begin to have creases from normal wear and tear and from wrapping your line around the...

Geared up for Night Fishing

Posted by Venture Wetsuits on

Some of you have already seen our video of the Venture Crew doing some Menpachi fishing at night. If you haven't, i'll be listing it again below. Mainly, I want to talk about what is some of the gear we use on the boat at night to help us be more effective and efficient.  Now let's dive right into it! Lights Lighting is hands down the most important thing to have on a boat at night. On the water everything is dark and hard to see what you're doing or where you're going. Taking drops before the drop. The beginning of Venture Wetsuits.

Posted by Venture Wetsuits on

The first two suits we designed and released were the Roi & Ono wetsuit. The suits arrived a month or two before the official release so the Venture Crew went on a little dive trip for some suit testing, big fish & good times! Especially knowing that the conditions are nice and that you never know what you'll encounter out in the water on any given dive. So we...

Fish, blood and cuts with Bubba Blade.

Posted by Venture Wetsuits on

As you get better in fishing and diving you'll start catching a wide variety fish. They'll be longer, wider and hopefully bigger. Eventually you need to start cutting up fish into blocks that you can freeze for later or giveaway to family and friends.  Filleting fish is an art that takes time, consistency and a lot of fish to master the skill. If I felt my knife skills were up to par, this would be an instructional take rather than an informational one. Having the right tools for the right job is essential in any trade, so why not cutting...

Hawaiian Goat Fish

Posted by Venture Wetsuits on

Some of the tastiest fish to eat in Hawaii is the goat fish. There's the Kumu (White Saddle goat fish), Moana Kali (Blue goat fish) and Munu (Doublebar goat fish). Each of which are fun to hunt and even better to eat. The preferred size to catch is in the 2 to 4 pound range. They get bigger, but very rare to find. Enjoy!
